Mykolas Majauskas, 41, is a parliament member and an independent candidate. A lawyer by trade, he currently sits in the Vilnius Council and is a vice mayor. Vaidas Benkunskas, 38, is the candidate of the conservative Homeland Union-Lithuanian Christian Democrats (TS-LKD). Raskevičius is openly gay and has been advocating for LGBTQ+ rights. ![]() Raskevičius is a former Vilnius City Council member and now sits in the parliament, where he heads the human rights committee. His fellow party member Remigijus Šimašius is the incumbent, but decided not to seek re-election for a third term. Tomas Vytautas Raskevičius, 34, is the candidate for the liberal Freedom Party. Moreover, 691 politicians are running to be in the 51-seat Vilnius City Council. Sixteen candidates are vying for the mayorship of the capital city, the most competitive race in the country.
